Dear Marlboro Resident,
This morning, in response to the tragedy that occurred in Newtown, Marlboro police officers were present during the arrival and dismissal times at every public and private school in the Township. Police personnel met with officials from each school to review security protocols and to perform security checks on school facilities.
At my request, the Police and Public Safety Department will be evaluating our schools’ security and working closely with the Superintendent and the Board of Education to address our changing needs as they have been doing since 1991. We are committed to continuing to support all the schools within our Township border as we endeavor to ensure the safety and well-being of our children. I anticipate that increased security measures will be visible and known throughout our community once adopted.
Should you wish to send a card or letter of condolence to the Newtown families, they may be sent to P.O. Box 3700, Newtown, CT 06470. A list of the charities chosen by the families as well as additional information on how to help may be found on the Newtown Patch website at http://newtown.patch.com/.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the children, staff, and families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School and all the residents of Newtown.
Mayor Jonathan Hornik
