Storm Update #3

1/22/2014

Dear Resident,

I want to thank everyone for their cooperation during the storm which left well over a foot of snow on our roadways.  The Department of Public Works (DPW) employees plowed throughout the night and virtually all roads were cleared by daybreak.  DPW will be salting and sanding throughout the day and again this evening as the snow melts and refreezes.  We urge caution if you must travel after dark.

As a reminder, the portion of Zone 5 scheduled for recycling pick-up yesterday and not completed and Zone 6 originally scheduled for today will both be collected on Saturday, January 25.  Please have your recycling curbside by 7am. For questions regarding recycling pick-up, please call DPW at (732) 536-0188.

The volunteer companies remind us to remove snow that may obstruct fire hydrants near our properties.  Fighting fires becomes even more difficult in freezing conditions and we need to do all we can to remove obstacles in order to maximize response time.

Bitterly cold weather is forecast for the next few days. If you live near senior citizens or residents with special needs, please take a moment to check in on them. As always, the Marlboro Police Department is available 24 hours a day at (732) 536-0100. For emergencies, please call 9-1-1.

Thank you to everyone for helping us to ‘weather the storm.’

Mayor Jon Hornik
