Winter Storm Niko Update #3

Dear resident,

The Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4pm this afternoon. The snow is expected to end by around 1:00pm, however winds are expected to increase and become gusty and temperatures will continue to drop causing the snow to pack to the road surface and wet areas freezing up.   We are urging all residents to stay at home if at all possible, allowing plows, police, and first responders clear access.

The Township’s plan for snow removal is in place.  Please see the email and Facebook post sent yesterday for details.  Plows are out and main roadways and collector streets (development main roads) will be cleared first.  Therefore, it is very likely you will not see a plow in your neighborhood until after the snow stops.  Residents can expect that their streets will be plowed and passable by rush hour Friday morning.  If by Friday morning, you feel your street needs attention, please email DPW at publicworks@marlboro-nj.com or call 732-536-0188.
As you begin to clear snow from your property, please note:

  • To help prevent plows depositing snow at the bottom of your driveway, wait until the snow plow has made at least one pass before shoveling the base of your driveway.  Please note, it is inevitable that the plow will deposit some snow.
  • Please shovel and clear around any fire hydrants around or near your property.  This will prevent the lines from freezing.

Please do NOT call the Police to report power outages or to ask snow removal questions. It is vital that police lines stay open for emergencies and reports of downed wires and trees. Power outages should be reported to JCP&L and snow removal concerns to DPW.

My office has been in contact with JCP&L and they have activated its storm response plan.  Extra line, substation and forestry workers are on alert.  Customers who are without power should call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) to report their outage or click the “Report Outage” link at www.firstenergycorp.com .

Please stay at home and safe.  We will continue to update you through social media, emails, and reverse 911 as needed.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
