Dear Resident:

The national weather service has issued a winter storm warning in effect from 6:00pm this evening until 1:00pm Monday.  Our area is expected to receive 6-8 inches of snow from winter storm Titan and it will then be followed by near record cold late Monday night.

The Marlboro Department of Public Works will begin applying deicing material to the roads late this afternoon. The Marlboro Public Safety Department has initiated the reverse 9-1-1 system to remind residents that you are required, by town ordinance, to remove your cars from the roadways when the road is snow covered.  This allows the plows to clear more effectively, and also protects your cars from damage from other motorists.

Please remember that Marlboro DPW salts and plows 200 miles of Marlboro Township roads.  It takes DPW and contractors approximately 10 hours to make one pass around the town for an average 4” snowfall. Larger snowfall amounts increase the time accordingly.  We ask that, if at all possible, you stay off the roads to allow DPW and our first responders clear access.

It bears repeating that communication between the township and our residents is most important during emergencies.  If you have not done so already, please visit our “Communications for Residents” section on the Township Website marlboro-nj.gov/resident-communications  to ensure that your home and cell phones are registered for Police reverse 9-1-1 calls and text message updates.  You can also find us on Facebook  www.facebook.com/marlborotownship.nj and Twitter @MarlboroTwp as well as my Facebook page.

Please take a moment to locate and review the “Plan and Prepare” brochure sent to your home with the Superstorm Sandy Anniversary letter.   The letter and brochure may also be found here marlboro-nj.gov/plan and prepare.sandyanniv and the brochure is reprinted in the centerfold of the Marlboro 2014 recycling calendar mailed to your home in December for easy access to emergency phone numbers and websites.

The Marlboro Police Department is available 24 hours a day at (732) 536-0100.  For emergencies, please do not hesitate to call 9-1-1.  We will continue to update the public through email, reverse 9-1-1 and social media, as necessary.   Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance.
