Dear Resident,

The first storm of the Atlantic hurricane season has been upgraded to a hurricane but is expected to pass well to the east of our region.  At this time, a ‘Flash Flood Watch” has been issued by the National Weather Service through 12 noon on Friday, July 4th. The heavy rains can cause flash floods in areas prone to flooding, along streams and creeks and in areas of poor drainage.  In addition to the flash flood watch, showers and thunderstorms are expected into tomorrow.  Some storms can be severe with damaging winds, heavy rain and frequent lightening.

The email sent yesterday detailed steps you should take to ensure that the township can get in touch with you in times of emergency.

In the case of a power outage, please report directly to JCP&L. You may call JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), sign up for text message reporting or visit www.facebook.com/JCPandL and click the ‘Report and Outage’ tab. Please visit the JCP&L 24/7 Power Center at www.jcp-l.com  using your smartphone, tablet or computer to report an outage or download the apps.

Marlboro’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will continue to monitor the forecast and we ask that you check the National Weather Service for updates and weather alerts. As always, the Marlboro Police Department is available 24 hours a day at (732) 536-0100.  For emergencies, always call 9-1-1.

We will continue to update the public through email, reverse 9-1-1 and social media, as necessary.   Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance. We wish you a safe and happy 4th of July.

Mayor Jon Hornik
