Tropical Storm Joaquin
Update #1
9-29-2015

Dear Residents:

The National Weather Service is tracking Tropical Storm Joaquin and has issued a hazardous weather outlook for our area.  As Marlboro’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) monitors the weather conditions, I want to take this opportunity to remind you to ensure that you and your loved ones are prepared for any weather emergency.

It bears repeating that having multiple lines of communication between the township and our residents is most important during emergencies.  If you have not done so already, please visit our “Communications for Residents” section on the Township Website www.marlboro-nj.gov/resident-communications and sign up for any or all of the communication options available.  Please register your home and cell phones for Police reverse 9-1-1 calls and text message updates.  Sign up for Township email blasts and find us on Facebook   www.facebook.com/marlborotownship.nj and Twitter @MarlboroTwp as well as my Facebook page.

Please take a moment to locate and review the “Plan and Prepare” brochure that may be found in the center of the recycling calendar mailed to your home and on line at http://www.marlboro-nj.gov/press/PLAN_AND_PREPARE.pdf  for easy access to emergency phone numbers and websites. Check the Township website Storm Updates http://www.marlboro-nj.gov/storm/Storm_updates.html for past preparedness information.

The Mayor’s office has been in contact with JCP&L regarding the storm forecast.  We remind you that power outages should be reported directly to JCP&L using one of their many methods available.  You may call JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) to report your outage, click here to report your outage online or here for text messaging.  Outage information is also available on JCP&L’s 24/7 Power Center Maps and on the JCP&L Facebook page. Please immediately report downed wires to JCP&L or the Marlboro Division of Police. Never go near a downed power line, even if you think it is no longer carrying electricity.

If you have not already done so, please visit our “Communications for Residents” section on the Township Website www.marlboro-nj.gov/resident-communications.html to ensure that your home and cell phones are registered for Police reverse 9-1-1 calls and text message updates. You can also find us on Facebook www.facebook.com/marlborotownship.nj , follow us on Twitter @MarlboroTwp as well as my Facebook page.

As always, the Marlboro Police Department is available 24 hours a day at (732) 536-0100. For emergencies, please do not hesitate to call 9-1-1. We will continue to update the public through email, reverse 9-1-1 and social media, as necessary. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance.

Mayor Jon Hornik
