Dear Resident:

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect from 11:00pm this evening until 7:00pm Thursday. Marlboro Department of Public Works (DPW) has been applying deicing material to the roads in advance of the storm.

At this time, we remind residents that you are required, by town ordinance, to remove your cars from the roadways when the road is snow covered. This allows the plows to clear more effectively, and also protects your cars from damage from other motorists.

The Marlboro Office of Emergency Management (OEM) continues to suspend all curbside brush and yard debris pick up until further notice and no debris may be placed curbside. For more information, please see page 4 of the recycling calendar mailed to your home or on-line at http://www.marlboro-nj.gov/Marlboro_recycling_Calendar_2015.pdf

Please note that there will be no recycling pickup for Zone 7 scheduled for Thursday, March 5.  The makeup date will be Saturday, March 7.  Please have your recycling curbside by 7am.   For information regarding recycling pick-up, please call DPW at (732) 536-0188.

It bears repeating that communication is critical during weather emergencies. If you have not done so already, please visit our “Communications for Residents” section on the Township Website www.marlboro-nj.gov/resident-communications.html to ensure that your home and cell phones are registered for Police reverse 9-1-1 calls and text message updates. You can also find us on Facebook www.facebook.com/marlborotownship.nj and Twitter@MarlboroTwp as well as my Facebook page.

Please take a moment to locate and review the “Plan and Prepare” brochure sent to your home with the Superstorm Sandy Anniversary letter. The brochure may also be found here http://www.marlboro-nj.gov/storm/PLAN_AND_PREPARE_2014.pdf Emergency preparedness information as well as important phone numbers can all be found in the brochure.

If the event of a power outage, please call JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) to report your outage or click here to report your outage online or via text messaging. Outage information is also available on JCP&L’s  24/7 Power Center Maps.  Please immediately report downed wires to JCP&L or the Marlboro Division of Police. Never go near a downed power line, even if you think it is no longer carrying electricity.

The Marlboro Police Department is available 24 hours a day at (732) 536-0100. For emergencies, please do not hesitate to call 9-1-1. We will continue to update the public through email, reverse 9-1-1 and social media, as necessary. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance.
