Tropical Storm Hermine
Update #2
9-3-2016

Dear Residents:

National Weather Service has upgraded our area to a Tropical Storm Warning effective until further notice. Marlboro’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) continues to monitor the weather conditions. At this time, Tropical Storm conditions are expected Sunday night but are possible Sunday (tomorrow) during the day and through the middle of the week.

If you have not done so already, please bring in or tie-down any loose items in your yard such as trashcans, garden ornaments, lawn furniture, etc.  Please make sure you have an adequate supply of medicines, baby supplies, water, etc.  Detailed preparation information is linked below.

Hermine Update #1 provided links to the preparedness information available on the Township Website.   A copy of that email is HERE. However it bears repeating that if you have not already done so, please visit our “Communications for Residents” section on the Township Website www.marlboro-nj.gov/resident-communications.html to ensure that your home and cell phones are registered for Police reverse 9-1-1 calls and text message updates. You can also find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/marlborotownship.nj follow us on Twitter @MarlboroTwp as well as my Facebook page.

Yesterday, I participated in JCP&L'S governmental update call on Hurricane Hermine.  They have begun preparing for the possibility of power outages and have added 400 additional linesmen to our area. Please report any outages to JCP&L as soon as they occur. Restoration can only begin when outages are reported to JCP&L using one of their many methods available.  You may call JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), click here to report your outage online or here for text messaging.  Outage information is also available on JCP&L’s 24/7 Power Center Maps and on the JCP&L Facebook page.

Please immediately report downed wires to JCP&L or the Marlboro Division of Police. Never go near a downed power line, even if you think it is no longer carrying electricity.

As always, the Marlboro Police Department is available 24 hours a day at (732) 536-0100. For emergencies, please do not hesitate to call 9-1-1. We ask that you do NOT call the Police for information regarding power outages and restoration estimates.  It is vitally important that Dispatch phone lines stay open for reporting of closed roads, downed trees and wires, and medical and fire emergencies.

We will continue to update the public through email, reverse 9-1-1 and social media, as necessary. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance.

Mayor Jon Hornik
