MARLBORO HALLOWEEN SAFETY

Last weekend many residents enjoyed our Township Halloween events.  Paranormal Night, Poltergeist, Trunk or Treat and the Halloween parade filled the weekend.  Our thanks to the community members who decorated their trunks and joined in the costume parade and to the Recreation staff for putting on great events.

This Sunday, October 31 is Halloween and, although Marlboro does not designate specific hours or times for trick or treating, please review the following Halloween Health and Safety Tips from Chief Pezzullo.

Normal Halloween curfew guidelines are in place.  As per Marlboro Ordinance, no one under the age of 18 shall be permitted in any public place, street or property in the Township between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. from October 29 to November 1 unless such person is going to or returning home from work, night school, fraternity, religious, or school meetings, or a doctor’s office unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian over 20 years old. For Pedestrians:

  • Trick-or-treat in your own neighborhood. Plan a trick-or-treating route in a familiar, well-lit area
  • Ensure trick-or-treaters are accompanied by an adult and walk in groups
  • Make sure children and accompanying adults wear bright, easily visible costumes and clothing and carry a flashlight or some other alternative lighting source
  • Never go into a stranger’s home or accept a ride from someone you don’t know
  • Walk on sidewalks wherever possible, or on the far edge of the road facing traffic to stay safe and to prevent accidents or injury
  • Always cross the street at a corner or an intersection using traffic signals and crosswalks, and remember to look both ways before entering the roadway

For Motorists:

  • Drive slowly, eliminate distractions and remain attentive in neighborhoods. Many young children are out for the evening, especially during the peak hours of 5:30 to 8 p.m.
  • Use EXTREME CAUTION when driving in areas where street lighting is poor or in case of inclement weather
  • Enter and exit driveways carefully as children are quickly moving through these areas

At Home:

  • Light up your walk path and porch and remove trip hazards
  • Candy gone? Turn off your porch lights

Marlboro Farmers Market – The Marlboro Farmers Market is open Sunday, October 31 from 9am to 2pm, children are invited to trick or treat at the market. For more, visit the Facebook page @MarlboroFarmersMarket
