Township Update

Dear Resident,

As we head into what is forecast to be a beautiful fall weekend, please take a moment to review the following Township events, programs, notices and an announcement about our Marlboro Farmers Market.   

  • Emergency Brush Collection COMPLETE-   The Department of Public Works (DPW) completed the Town wide emergency storm debris removal (brush only) on Friday, September 11.  Brush still curbside must be removed by a private contractor or brought to the recycling center at no charge.   • Fall Recreation Programs – Fall Backyard Movie Nights, Goat Yoga, Scavenger Hunt, Halloween events (drive thru trunk or treat, scarecrow stuffing, pet costume contest) and more! FLYER
  • Recreation Youth & Adult Programs – Pilates, HIIT, and Cardio-Kickboxing classes for adults.  Kids ages 5-10 enjoy Kids Fit Classes and Youth Yoga. Classes begin the week of September 21.  See FLYER for more.  Register on Community Pass.   
  • Generator Residential Permit Fee Waived – As per my Executive Order (HERE) the permit fee is waived for new applications for residential standby and portable generator applications until October 16, 2020.  Please note that the permit only need be filed by that date and installation can occur at a later time.  To request a generator permit packet please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , call 732-536-0200 ext. 1800, or visit the Building Department Monday to Friday from 8am – 4pm (entrance in the back of Town Hall). 
  • Hunger Action Month – In cooperation with Fulfill, I have signed a Proclamation (HERE) declaring September Hunger Action Month. Since the Pandemic began, more than 215,000 people now rely on food from Fulfill and its partners. Please visit https://fulfillnj.org/ for ways that you can help our neighbors. 
  • Suicide Prevention Month – September is suicide prevention month. Learn the warning signs of suicide and suicide prevention resources to learn how to get the professional help they need. FLYER
  • General Information Election Update Part 1 - Sent via email, posted on social media and on line HERE.  This update focusses on ensuring that you are a registered, active voter, how to update your address, signature or name. All registered active voters will automatically be sent a Vote By Mail ballot no later than October 5. Please do not discard your ballot. In addition to mailing the ballot, there will be drop-off options available and they will be outlined in General Election Part 2. 
  • Texas Road between Amboy Road and NJSH Route 18 (Road Open) - Monday (9/14) through Friday (9/18) from 7am-5pm, construction crews will be installing concrete curb on Texas road between Amboy Road and Route 18 as well as curb ramp reconstruction at various intersections within these limits.  The scheduled time frame for this work is weather-dependent, and every effort will be made to minimize any inconvenience to residents during this time.  The road will remain accessible during construction, although motorists are advised to use caution through the work zone.  Police Officers will be site to assist motorists and residents.  Please call Marlboro Traffic and Safety at 732-536-0304 with further inquiries regarding this road work. 
  • COVID-19 Testing Sites – Monmouth County announces free testing at locations throughout the county.  You do not have to be symptomatic to be tested.  Dates, times and locations HERE. 

I am pleased to announce that the Marlboro Farmers Market has extended their season until October 25, 2020.  Originally intended to be a summer market, the Market has become a weekly destination for residents and those in surrounding towns. The decision to extend the season was based not only on the Market’s popularity, but also on the unique situation presented by COVID-19. The market offers an outdoor shopping environment and people feel safe enjoying it with their families. Open every Sunday, from 9am to 2pm, shoppers can find products including New Jersey seasonal fruits and vegetables, local honey, herbs, microgreens, flowers, eggs, meats, cheeses, fresh fish, baked goods, gelato, sauces, dips, pickles, prepared foods and dog treats.
