Weekend Update – Memorial Day Edition

Dear Resident,

Town Hall Municipal Office & Recycling Center will be closed on Monday, May 29 in observance of Memorial Day. I hope you will join me at our Wreath Laying Ceremony on Monday at 10am as we honor those that made the ultimate sacrifice.  Please see below for details. 

Please mark your calendars for two events coming up next weekend.  Our annual Bike and Stroll to celebrate National Trails Day will be on Saturday, June 3 at 2pm and on Sunday, June 4, the Marlboro Farmers Market opens for the season.  Please see below for more. 

NOTICES

Spring Clean-Up/Bulk Pick-up and Brush collection – Collections are complete at this time as the summer road program begins.  Residents may drop off bulk items (free, on-line permit needed) and brush/leaves (no permit required) throughout the year at the Township Recycling Center during posted hours. For more information on what can be dropped off at the Recycling Center, what requires a permit, and hours of operation for the Recycling Center please review the Township Recycling Calendar HERE.

Road Construction – As per the weekly Road Construction Notice, construction crews will be on Wyncrest Road Tuesday through Friday of next week performing mill and pave operations between Robertsville Road and the NJSH Route 18 overpass. The road will be open with alternate lane closures, but we suggest you avoid the area, if possible. 

Zoning Notice – While the weather begins to warm, you may begin to notice vacant or unkempt properties or those with high grass. Primary Election Day June 6- There are three ways to vote. At your polling place on Election Day, by in-person early voting or by Vote by Mail Ballot.  To check your registration status, apply for VBM ballot, and more please see a letter from Marlboro’s Municipal Clerk HERE.  

PUBLIC SAFETY - UPDATE

Public Safety Reminder - By working together, we are making a difference and reducing successful vehicle thefts. Please remember to lock your car doors, take the key fobs inside, remove garage door openers, lock your house doors/windows and set alarms.  If you have not yet done so request an ‘I Took the Pledge’ lawn sign and download the ‘Neighbors’ app.  Most importantly, if you see anything out of place or suspicious call the police at 732-536-0100.  For crimes in progress dial 911.  To read more about how we, as a community, are working together to keep our homes and families safe: https://www.marlboro-nj.gov/citizen-reporting-initiative

PROGRAMS AND EVENTS

Memorial Day – Please join us on Monday, May 29 at 10am at the Veterans Memorial in front of Town Hall as we honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice with a wreath laying ceremony.  Music provided by members of the Marlboro High School musicians and singers led by Conductor Dalton.  Light refreshments provided. Marlboro Swim Club Opening – The Marlboro Swim Club opens this weekend. Register today to take advantage of the entire swim season! The pools are open weekends through June 25 and seven days a week beginning on June 26. For more information, check out our flyer HERE. Drop by this weekend to take a tour and join in person while you are there.

Mayor’s Bike and Stroll – Join Mayor Jon Hornik on Saturday June 3 at 2:00PM at Pedego (239 Route 79 in Morganville) for a celebration of National Trails Day. For more information click HERE.

Marlboro Farmer’s Market Opening – The Marlboro Farmers Market is back for its fifth season beginning on Sunday, June 4 from 9AM-1PM. Stop by the preserved Stattel Farm Property (444 Rt. 520) on Sundays June – October to access snacks and produce from small businesses and local vendors. Check out @MarlboroFarmersMarket on Facebook and Instagram to get updates on new and returning vendors.

Summer employment Opportunities - Marlboro Swim Club is hiring for the following positions! Lifeguards, Gate attendant, Front desk, EMTs, Concession Stand and Cooks. APPLICATION

Lifeguard Certification Classes - Summer Job needed? Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (or Recertification) available at the Marlboro Swim Club. You do not have to be a swim club member to take the class.  Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Prerequisites: Must be age 15 by end of class.  FLYER

It is National EMS week! Consider saying thank you by becoming a member and learning invaluable life skills.   Marlboro and Morganville First Aid Squads offer free EMT certification and driver training to recruits, and active membership also qualifies volunteers for discounts on various Township fees and memberships and an annual contribution towards an individual retirement-type program.  Want to learn more? Marlboro Township Public School District Survey: Marlboro Township Public Schools, PreK-8, is seeking feedback from all district and community stakeholders to help determine how the district should continue to utilize Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds (ESSER). Please take the time to complete the following important survey. This survey will close on Friday, June 2, 2023.

Commuter Parking: The annual renewal process is complete and new registrations are now being accepted. Parking spots are available at Union Hill, Texas Road (Costco) and Cambridge Square (Home Depot) commuter parking lots. Manalapan residents may apply at Cambridge Square (across the street from the Union Hill) or at the Texas Road commuter lot. For non-residents may apply for the Texas Road commuter lot. COVID-19 Ratepayer Measures provide relief to ratepayers experiencing economic hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The NJ Department of Community Affairs has developed a low income household water assistance program.  Please review the letter from the Marlboro Water Utility HERE.
