Burnt Fly Bog EPA Update 8-14-2023

As part of its ongoing clean-up and monitoring of the "Burnt Fly Bog" Federal Superfund site in Marlboro, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has advised that it will be applying a phosphorus material to the sediment on the property to further limit the movement of lead found in the westerly wetlands towards the brook. While there are no health or safety concerns associated with this treatment, the EPA has advised that the material has a pungent odor which may be detectable off-site. Anyone with concerns about the activities being conducted should reach Michael Zeolla, Project Manager at (212) 637-4376.
