Heat Notice Update #2

Excessive Heat Warning until 8pm Wednesday, July 17

Air Quality Alert until 12am Wednesday, July 17

Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10pm Tuesday, July 16

Dear Resident,

In addition to the heat advisory and air quality alert in effect, the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for our area until 10pm tonight. It is important to know that a watch means that weather conditions are favorable for severe storms and you should be prepared for the possibility, but they are not here yet. A warning indicated that the storm is occurring or is imminent and you should immediately take action and seek shelter.  A watch can change to a warning very rapidly.  Please ensure that you receive weather alerts. Learn how HERE.

Marlboro Parks have 7 lightning detection systems. If lightning is detected within 5 miles of the Recreation Center all stations will sound a siren tone for 3-4 seconds, a strobe light will flash continuously, and you should take action immediately.  Please review this graphic HERE with your family.

Heavy wind and rain can bring with it power outages.  Please report an outage to JCP&L at 888- LIGHTSS (888-544-4877), text OUT to 544487 or visit www.firstenergycorp.com/outages  Reporting outages will allow you to receive restoration updates and restoration confirmation for your home.

The Marlboro Police are available 24/7 and can be reached at 732-536-0100.  For emergencies always dial 911.   Please take a moment to check in on your neighbors, especially those that are older or with disabilities. We will update you as necessary.

Stay safe,

Mayor Jon Hornik
