Coronavirus Update #25

Dear Resident,

Over the last several days Governor Murphy has signed several Executive Orders of note to Marlboro Residents.

Executive Order 122 , effective Friday, April 10 at 8:00 pm, will put into place new guidelines for essential retail stores and will cease all non-essential construction. This order is in place indefinitely. Specifics related to Governor Murphy’s order is available HERE.

New Guidelines for Essential Retail Stores – The order, in part, states:

  • Customers and employees must wear cloth face coverings. Please note that face coverings do not have to be surgical or N95 as they remain in short supply for first responders and medical professionals. Instructions to make a mask from cloth, both sew and no-sew options, as well as how to use and keep clean is available on the CDC Website.
  • All essential retail must indefinitely limit the number of customers in their stores to 50 percent of their approved capacity.
  • Stores must provide special shopping hours for high-risk individuals, erect physical barriers between customers and cashiers and baggers where practicable, and regularly sanitize areas used by their employees.
  • The order will also put greater protections in place for the workers at warehouses, and in manufacturing.

Non-Essential Construction to Cease

  • Projects underway at single family homes, where the resident already resides can continue as long as the construction crew is less than 5 people.
  • Projects underway at a residential home with a legally binding contract in place, a date that the occupants must occupy the residence and the construction is necessary to ensure availability can continue.
  • Exceptions to this order include construction at hospitals and schools.
  • Resident questions should be directed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 732-536-0200 ext. 1800.

State and County Parks Closed - Executive Order 118 closed all state and county parks. The state has left municipal parks to the discretion of individual towns. I have directed that courts and playgrounds be closed and that areas for passive recreation remain open as long as social distancing rules are followed. If group gatherings are reported, than I will revisit this decision.

New Jersey Primary Elections Postponed – Governor Murphy signed Executive Order No. 120, postponing primary elections scheduled for Tuesday, June 2nd to Tuesday, July 7th.

Public Health Emergency Extended - Executive Order 119 extends the public health emergency order originally issued on March 9 for an additional 30 days.

Marlboro Bulk/Spring Pickup Postponed -- Marlboro Division of Police released a SWIFT 911 message with the following text: “This is an important message from the Marlboro Township Police Department regarding the Township Bulk Curbside Pickup.
