Fall Recreation Events
Dear Resident,
Please review our Halloween Safety Message HERE including links to signs for residents to print and post. Let neighbors know if your home is handing out treats this year. Marlboro Recreation is hosting socially distanced, safe Halloween events for ages. All are free, but some are space limited and require registration on Community Pass. Please see below for dates and details.
Fall Backyard Movie Series –
Friday, October 23 (rescheduled Date) - Hocus Pocus
Friday, October 30th - Poltergeist
TIME: Seating begins at 6:30. Movie starts at 7
WHERE: Recreation Amphitheater on the lawn. Parking at the Rec Center.
LOUNGING: Bring chairs, pillows, blankets, flashlights
MOVIE NIBBLES: Candy, popcorn, snacks and beverages (no glass or alcohol, please)
SAFETY NOTES: Masks/face coverings must be worn while not seated in your designated area. No smoking, alcohol or pets
Please help us keep movie night clean. Use the trash receptacles or carry-out your leftovers.
Halloween Events for All Ages!
Halloween Story & Picture Contest:
WHEN: Submissions will be accepted from October 1– October 21
FEE: Free. Submission is registration. Drop off at Rec Center or email to
AGES: Youth ages 5-14
WHAT: Calling all writers and artists! Write a scary short story or a Halloween themed artwork. Winners will be announced at our final movie night on October 30th.
Scarecrow Decorating Contest:
WHEN: Friday, October 23 (Rescheduled date)
TIME: 5:00pm-6:30pm
FEE: Free. Registration on Community Pass Required. Space is Limited.
AGES: All
WHAT: Stuff and decorate your scarecrow. We provide the hay and stuffing material. You provide the costume, props and decorations.
Pet Costume Contest:
WHEN: Thursday, October 22 from 4:30pm- 5:30 pm at Rec Center
FEE: Free. Registration on community pass required.
AGES: All
WHAT: Dress your pet! Who will win Best in Show?? Special Guest: A box turtle!
Drive thru Trunk or Treat
WHEN: Sunday, October 25 from 2-4pm at the Rec Center
FEE: Free. Registration Required.
AGES: All
WHAT: Decorate your cars, and drive through the loop at the Recreation Center. Costumed staff will hand out pre-made goody bags. All candy and giveaways will be pre-packaged.
Pumpkin Smash 2020 – Don’t Trash It Smash It!

WHEN: Saturday, November 7th from 9am-12pm
FEE: Free. No registration required.
AGES: All
WHAT: Don’t Trash it, Smash it! Bring your post-Halloween pumpkins to the Recreation Center and smash them for use as compost. A fun way to dispose of your pumpkins while keeping them out of the landfill. Please remove candles and decorations (paint ok) #GreenYourHalloween.
