Dear Resident,
A winter weather advisory is in effect from now until 9pm tonight. Freezing rain, sleet and snow are expected with accumulations of up to ½ inch. The Marlboro K-8 school district and the FRHSD schools have cancelled all after school activities and night events. Accordingly, all Marlboro Recreation afternoon and evening programs are cancelled both in the Recreation Center and in the schools.
Marlboro roadways have been treated, but it is recommended that travel be kept at a minimum as the mix of precipitation will likely create hazardous conditions. This extended cold snap is finally expected to break and temperatures will be above freezing for the next several days, melting the snow and ice. The DPW has been clearing storm drains in anticipation, but, as the snow melts, the drains can again become blocked. We appreciate your continued assistance in keeping the storm drains clear of debris and removing excess snow from around fire hydrants so they remain accessible in case of emergency.
We remind you that Christmas pickup for All zones take place the weeks of January 8 and January 15. We ask that you place your tree on the lawn side of the curb to keep the streets clear. As per the Marlboro Office of Emergency Management all brush pickup scheduled for January is cancelled until further notice.
As always, the Marlboro Police are open 24/7. For emergencies, dial 9-1-1. We will update you as needed through email, social media and police reverse 911. Stay safe.
Mayor Jon Hornik
