MAYOR HORNIK’S WINTER STORM HARPER UPDATE #2
Dear Resident,
The Marlboro Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is monitoring two weather events for our area.
The first begins this evening with snow beginning after rush hour and ending early Friday morning. Snow totals are expected to be 1-2 inches with possible impacts to the Friday morning commute. Marlboro Department of Public Works DPW is currently pre-treating the roads and will continue to do so overnight.
The more significant storm is expected to track across our region later Saturday into Sunday. The specifics as to precipitation types remain uncertain however at this time ice accumulation in addition to snow is forecast for central New Jersey. As the storm track becomes clearer, snow and ice totals will be updated. Late Sunday and into Monday arctic air will rapidly overspread the region with strong gusty winds. This may result in a flash freeze of wet surfaces with wind chills dropping to single digits or below zero in many areas by Monday morning. Power outages are a possibility.
Please note the following from the Marlboro OEM:
- No additional brush may be placed curbside until further notice. If your zone is currently scheduled for collection and has already been placed at the curb, you may leave it in place. DPW will collect brush as long as possible.
- No leaves may be curbside. Leaf collection is complete until spring. Leaves in the street will increase the threat of flooding and compound icing conditions. Leaves must be removed from the roadway immediately. Residents can either bring leaves to the recycling center (open Monday and Wednesday from 8am -1:30 pm and Saturday from 8am- 4:00 pm) or hire a private contractor to facilitate removal.
- As per Town Ordinance, we remind you that vehicles may not be parked in the roadways when the road is snow covered.

As we learned during Superstorm Sandy, some lines of communication fail during a weather emergency. For that reason, it is vital that we have as many ways to contact you as possible.
