Winter Storm Toby
Update #5
9:00 am

Dear Resident,
Winter Storm Toby took its time arriving, but it did arrive and a significant amount of snow fell between 10pm and 2:30am. It is estimated that we have about a foot of snow on the ground.

Snow removal equipment has been out since 10pm clearing out 200 miles of roads. As you begin to shovel out, please do not shovel or blow snow from your cars or the driveway into the street; it creates icing and dangerous conditions.

Please note the following:

  • The United States Postal Service asks customers to clear enough snow from their mailboxes to allow mail trucks to approach the box, deliver the mail and drive away.
  • If a fire hydrant is located on your property, it should be cleared of snow to prevent the lines from freezing and allow access in case of fire.
  • Zone 3 recycling scheduled for today will be collected. If your recycling has not been picked up by 5pm, leave it curbside and call DPW at 732-536-9296.
  • Zone 2 only has a makeup day on Saturday, March 24. Place items curbside no later than 7am Saturday.
  • Marlboro and FRHSD schools are closed today and Marlboro Recreation programs are cancelled.
  • Town Hall is open, but administrative offices may have limited staffing this morning and we appreciate your patience.

At this time, JCP&L is reporting less than 20 homes in Marlboro without power (more than 5,000 in Monmouth County). JCP&L activated its storm plan in advance of the storm and line crews are in the area. If you do not have power and have not reported it to JCP&L please do so using one of their methods outlines HERE .
Please do not call the police for snow removal or power outage updates. It is imperative that their lines stay open for emergencies. Please direct snow removal concerns to DPW at 732-536-0188 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

My gratitude to the DPW workers, Police, First Responders and everyone who worked through the night clearing the streets and keeping us safe. If needed, we will update you via email, social media and SWIFT 911. Thank you for your cooperation as we clean up from the storm.
Mayor Jon Hornik
