Winter Weather Events – Update #2
Obstructions to be removed from roadway by this afternoon (Tuesday)
Good morning,
There are no significant changes to the weather forecast as of the 5:00 am briefing from the National Weather Service (NWS). We can expect snowfall beginning late afternoon/early evening, with totals reaching up to 4 inches by early Wednesday morning.
In anticipation of a likely plowable snow event, the Marlboro Office of Emergency Management (OEM) advises residents to take this time to plan and prepare:
- Remove Vehicles and Obstructions from Roads: Per Township ordinance, when the roads are snow covered all vehicles and obstructions such as basketball hoops and garbage cans must be removed from the roadway. This includes the duration of the storm and the cleanup that follows.
- Snow Preparations: Please review the ‘Surviving the Snow’ on pages 22 and 23 of the Recycling Calendar and linked HERE for tips, important numbers and websites.
- JCP&L: Report outages to 888-LIGHTSS. Report downed wires to Marlboro Police. Stay clear of electrical lines which may be live and dangerous.
- Review the Marlboro Office of Emergency Management website HERE with links to preparedness websites HERE.
As mentioned in my last update, the NWS is also forecasting yet another weather system to impact our area beginning as a “wintry mix” on Wednesday evening and ending as rain on Thursday, and another system which will bring mixed precipitation to our area again this coming weekend.
As a reminder, OEM has suspended Curbside Brush Collection due to the current and extended weather forecast.
We will continue to monitor the weather forecast and keep you updated as needed via email, social media channels and the Township website.
Thank you and stay safe.
