Weekend Update

Dear Resident,

This weekend many of our neighbors will be celebrating Easter.  Please be mindful that there may be additional traffic and visitors. We ask that you leave extra time and obey speed limits so everyone can enjoy the holiday safely. 

If you are leaving for spring break, please practice home safety.  Set your house alarm, stop mail and packages (or ask a neighbor to collect), and don’t share your vacation plans or post photos on the internet until you return.  We remind residents that free Police Home Security checks are available.  See ‘Public Safety’ below.

PUBLIC NOTICES

Fire Hydrant Flushing - Annual Spring 2024 Hydrant Flushing will begin on or about Monday April 1, 2024 with an anticipated completion of Friday May 3, 2024 typically between the hours of 8:00 am and 2:30 pm.  During this work residents are advised to make sure to keep garbage and recycling containers behind the curb to avoid obstructing drainage along the curb/gutter. Low pressure or discolored water is common and not harmful; just run cold water until it runs clear.  For questions, please visit our website at HYDRANT FLUSHING

Building Permit Fees – We are pleased to announce that the Building Department now accepts credit cards for on-line permit fees.  You will receive an email when the permit is ready for pickup and a separate email with a link for on-line credit card payment.  Credit cards are not accepted in person, but must be paid on line using the link provided.  Checks, cash (exact change) and money orders are, of course, still accepted in person when you are picking up the permit. 

Bagged Only Leaf Collection – Free leaf bags. Leaf bag collection has begun by zone.  Brush and lawn debris are accepted at the recycling center, no permit or fee, throughout the year.  Please see the letter HERE for the link for free leaf bags, the schedule and regulations.    

2024 Recycling Calendar – The calendar has been mailed to all homes and is posted on the Township website and linked HERE.  (The calendar posted on the website has the corrected August dates.)

PROGRAMS

Blood Drive – Marlboro Middle School is holding a Healthy Futures blood drive on April 10 from 9am to 1:30 pm.  Appointments are encouraged.  FLYER

The Wizards! May 30 at 7pm, the Harlem Wizards vs Magic (Teachers and staff) with honorary referee Chief Peter Pezzullo.  Tickets go on sale April 15 at 6pm. They are sure to go quickly so mark your calendars!  This event is hosted by the Marlboro Educational Foundation.  FLYER

Marlboro Swim Club Registration – Now open! FLYER

Life Guard Training – Train to be a lifeguard.  Must be age 15 by the end of the class. Employment free training opportunity. FLYER

PUBLIC SAFETY – UPDATE

Vacation Security Check – Residents can arrange for a police security check while on vacation.  Read the WAIVER and complete the Request form HERE.

Join the Club – We are pleased to announce that The Club steering wheel lock is back in stock.  To order yours please CLICK HERE to Take the Pledge and have The Club delivered to your home (max 2 per address). Please note that The Club is available while supplies last. 

DVRT –Volunteer Advocates are civilian members of the community who work collaboratively with law enforcement to provide confidential support to survivors of domestic violence.

Pet Licensing Portal Open – Licensing your dogs and cats annually is required by state and town regulations.  The rabies vaccine must be current at the time of application.  On line and mail-in information HERE.

TOWN MEETINGS

All Town meetings are posted on the Township website ‘Upcoming Events’ Calendar linked HERE.  Agendas, where applicable, are posted to the website not less than 48 hours in advance of the meeting and are linked to the calendar event.  The following Council/Planning/Zoning meetings are scheduled for the remainder of March. Other meetings can be found on the calendar.  From time to time, meetings are cancelled and notice is posted to the calendar event.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Commuter Parking Renewals Due by March 31 - The 2024-2025 commuter parking permit renewal period for Marlboro Township's commuter parking lots is now open. Renewals must be completed on-line via the Township’s SDL Portal, on or before March 31, 2024. Paper applications are no longer accepted. COVID-19 Ratepayer Measures provide relief to ratepayers experiencing economic hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The NJ Department of Community Affairs has developed a low income household water assistance program.  Please review the letter from the Marlboro Water Utility HERE.
