Weekend Winter Weather Event – Update #1
Dear Resident,
The Marlboro Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has been monitoring another winter weather event that will likely impact us beginning on Saturday into Sunday. The National Weather Service briefing as of 4:00 am today indicates that we will again see a “wintry mix” starting some time Saturday afternoon, with the bulk of precipitation taking place Saturday night into Sunday morning. As with many storms which affect our area, there is some uncertainty as to the cut-off point for snow and mixed precipitation. The current forecast for our area is some snow accumulation in the range of 1-3 inches as well as icy conditions.
In anticipation of a possible plowable snow event, the Marlboro Office of Emergency Management advises residents to take this time to plan and prepare:
- Remove Vehicles and Obstructions from Roads on Saturday afternoon: Per Township ordinance, when the roads are snow covered all vehicles and obstructions such as basketball hoops must be removed from the roadway. This includes the duration of the storm and the cleanup that follows.
- Snow Preparations: Please review the ‘Surviving the Snow’ on pages 22 and 23 of the Recycling Calendar and linked HERE for tips, important numbers and websites.
- JCP&L: Report outages to 888-LIGHTSS. Never go near downed wires. Assume they are live and dangerous. Report to the Marlboro Police.
- Review the Marlboro Office of Emergency Management website HERE with links to preparedness websites HERE.
Also note the following changes to program schedules due to the weather:
- Recreation programs: Any changes to weekend schedules will be announced today Friday, before close of business.
- Curbside Brush Collection: Due to the weekend weather and extended forecast, please be advised that the OEM has suspended service until further notice.
We will continue to monitor the weather forecast for the weekend and into next week, and keep you updated as needed via email, social media channels and the Township website.
Thank you for your cooperation and stay safe,
Mayor Jon Hornik
