Weekend Winter Weather Event – Update #3
Dear Resident,
The most recent National Weather Service (NWS) briefing does not include any notable changes to the forecast. The NWS advises that precipitation will begin late this afternoon and end early Sunday morning. A mix of snow, sleet and rain is expected with a total accumulation of 1-3 inches. That said, the cut-off point for snow and mixed precipitation runs through Monmouth County – any slight change in the weather pattern can impact the amount of snow we receive. Regardless of how much snow accumulates, conditions will be icy and it is recommended to avoid any unnecessary travel.
***This afternoon, in order to ensure that Marlboro DPW can clear the roads in the most efficient way possible, please remove vehicles and obstructions from the roads such as garbage cans and basketball hoops.***
The following changes to program schedules have been made:
- Recreation: Programs scheduled for Sunday, February 9th are cancelled.
- Curbside Brush Collection: Due to the weekend weather and extended forecast, please be advised that the OEM has suspended service until further notice.
As you prepare for the storm, note the following resources on the Town website:
- ‘Surviving the Snow’ on pages 22 and 23 of the Recycling Calendar and linked HERE
- Marlboro Office of Emergency Management HERE.
In the event of a power outage, call JCP&L at 888-LIGHTSS. Report any instances of downed wires to the Marlboro Police.
We will continue to monitor the weather forecast for this storm as well as the one currently in the forecast for Tuesday into Wednesday, and keep you updated as needed via email, social media channels and the Township website.
Thank you for your cooperation and stay safe,
Mayor Jon Hornik
