Winter Weather Advisory – Update #1
Dear Resident,
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for our area beginning tonight (Wednesday) at 11pm through 10am Thursday. Snow, sleet and freezing rain are all expected. Travel will be difficult overnight and into Thursday morning. Untreated areas will be especially dangerous. Follow weather tracking apps and turn on alerts, especially if you plan on traveling.
In preparation, Department of Public Works is currently applying brine to our main and collector roads. Our Office of Emergency Management is requesting that, if possible, you work from home and stay off the roads as long as possible allowing DPW the opportunity to apply salt and for the temperatures to warm.
As a reminder, in the event of power outages, report your outage by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), clicking the “Report Outage” link on www.firstenergycorp.com, or by texting out to 544487. Assume all downed lines are live and dangerous and report to the Police at 732-536-0100.
Please review the important information, website links and phone numbers on the Marlboro OEM Preparedness page HERE and ‘Surviving the Snow’ on pages 22 and 23 of the Recycling Calendar linked HERE.
Long range forecasts have us in a fairly active period for the next 7 to 10 days. We will continue to monitor the forecast and keep you updated as needed via email, social media channels, and the Township website.
Stay safe,
Mayor Jon Hornik
