UPDATE #1
RE: Winter Weather Update
Dear Resident,
A strong cold front will impact our region Wednesday night through Thursday. Rain/snow showers Wednesday night and Thursday morning could result in some light snowfall accumulations resulting in a slippery Thursday morning commute. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for our area Thursday from 6am until 10pm. Strong winds will develop Thursday morning as a front moves in with widespread 40-50 miles per hour gusts forecast. The winds could result in some tree damage and isolated power outages.
The Marlboro Department of Public Works will address early morning icing as needed. Please leave extra time for your travels Thursday morning.
In the event outages occur due to severe weather, report your outage by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), clicking the “Report Outage” link on www.firstenergycorp.com, or by texting OUT to 544487. Please do not call the police to report an outage or ask for an update. It is imperative that the police phone lines are available for emergencies and they do not have access to this information. Outage estimated restoration times are available on the JCP&L website. When you report an outage, you can request that updates for your address be sent to your phone.
Please take the following preparedness steps:
- Keep all personal electronics and backup batteries charged.
- Gather flashlights and batteries.
- Tie down, lay down or bring inside loose lawn ornaments and decorations.
- Plan and prepare for an outage at http://ready.nj.gov/plan-prepare/power-outages.shtml
- Visit Marlboro Office of Emergency Management for important preparedness tips and websites. https://www.marlboro-nj.gov/departments/emergency-mgt
Assume all downed wires are alive and dangerous. Report to the Marlboro Division of Police at 732-536-0100 to report. In case of emergencies, dial 911.
We will update you as needed. Stay safe.
Mayor Jon Hornik
