Wintry Precipitation, Heavy Rain and High Winds – February 15-17
Good afternoon,
The National Weather Service has forecast yet another round of wintry weather in our area this weekend. A strong storm system will bring 1-2 inches of snow Saturday afternoon. As the temperatures warm the precipitation will change to a wintry mix and then to rain through Sunday. High winds expected Sunday night through Monday night with gusts of up to 45mph.
The high winds and wet grounds bring with it the increased likelihood of power outages. Please use this time to ensure your cell phones, tablets and back up batteries are charged. Please note important numbers and websites:
- JCP&L: Report outages to 888-LIGHTSS or report on line HERE
- View JCP&L Outage map and be prepared for outages HERE.
- Report downed wires to Marlboro Police. Stay clear of electrical lines which may be live and dangerous.
- Review the Marlboro Office of Emergency Management website HERE with links to preparedness websites HERE.
- Do not drive or walk through flooded waters. Turn around. Don’t drown.
As a reminder, OEM has suspended Curbside Brush Collection due to the current and extended weather forecast.
The Department of Public Works will be applying de-icing materials to our roadways in advance of the storm. However, please note that as temperatures drop below freezing wet surfaces will become icy and dangerous. Please use caution.
Town Hall and the Recycling Center are CLOSED Monday in observance Presidents Day however, as always, emergency management services are open 24/7.
We will continue to monitor the weather forecast and keep you updated as needed via email, social media channels and the Township website.
Have a safe and happy Valentine’s Day.
