Weekend Update

Dear Resident,

The first Tuesday in August towns across the country, including Marlboro, will be celebrating National Night Out.  This event is an annual community building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. I hope you will join us. Please see below for more. 

The Marlboro Farmers Market is open every Sunday 9am – 1pm. Nearly 30 vendors featuring seasonal fruits and vegetables, pickles,  cheese, soaps, fresh cut flowers, dog treats, crafters and more.  Notice of weekly vendors, market updates and more are shared to social media @MarlboroFarmersMarket and our website HERE .

EVENTS

National Night Out – This Tuesday, August 6, Marlboro police will hold National Night Out, a police/community relationship building event from 6-9pm at Cambridge Square (Home Depot/Shop Rite parking lot). This free, family event will feature bounce house, giveaways, ice cream and activities for the whole family.   FLYER

Blood Drive – Wednesday, August 7, Marlboro EMS will be sponsoring a blood drive.  Registration and more FLYER

Marlboro Swim Club ‘Dog Days of Summer’ Membership reduced rates.  Plenty of summer left! FLYER

Marlboro Day – Our 40th annual Marlboro Day will be held on September 8 and sponsor and vendor opportunities are available now.  Don’t wait as this event fills quickly.  Marlboro Day welcomes thousands of visitors and is a great opportunity to promote your business.  Registration closes August 23.  FLYER SIGNUP/DIRECTIONS

PUBLIC NOTICES

Message from the Tax Collector - Third quarter property taxes must be received by Monday, August 12th to avoid interest. Note that interest charges on payments made after the grace period are calculated back to the August 1st due date. The Tax Collector’s office will have extended hours on Monday, August 12th from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm. A drop box is located in the vestibule of Town Hall and is available 24/7. All payments left in the drop box by 6:00 pm on August 12th will be credited that day and will not be subject to interest. For more, read the Tax Collector’s letter HERE.

Veteran Events– Monmouth County August 14 join two informative and fun events.    Veterans Resource Fair FLYER and Vet Fest FLYER. These events are free but please see the flyers to pre-register. 

Marlboro Recycling Calendar – As we turn the page to August, a reminder that the August calendar dates were misprinted.  The recycling days are unaffected and the correct calendar can be found on the website and linked HERE.

PUBLIC SAFETY

Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT) -Work with law enforcement to provide confidential support to domestic violence victims at police headquarters. Free training is provided.  Fall training dates to begin in October. FLYER.

TOWN MEETINGS

All Town meetings are posted on the Township website ‘Upcoming Events’ Calendar linked HERE.  Agendas, where applicable, are posted to the website not less than 48 hours in advance of the meeting and are linked to the calendar event.  The following Council/Planning/Zoning meetings are upcoming. Other meetings can be found on the calendar.  From time to time, meetings are cancelled and notice is posted to the calendar event.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

COVID-19 Ratepayer Measures provide relief to ratepayers experiencing economic hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The NJ Department of Community Affairs has developed a low income household water assistance program.  Please review the letter from the Marlboro Water Utility HERE.

A heat advisory remains in effect until 8pm tonight with heat index values up to 103 degrees expected.  Please stay out of the heat if possible and stay hydrated. Children, elderly, those with chronic conditions are among those most at risk.  To learn more, please review my prior emails (HERE).
