Weekend Update

Dear Resident,

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) required revisions to our storm water ordinance and they were adopted by the Township Council in March.  We are proud to encourage sustainability in our Township, a part of which is being an ‘Adhering Municipality’ meaning that each year we report to the DEP the amount in tonnage of litter, yard waste, improperly disposed of material we collect.  We also report the enforcement methods we utilize to ensure adherence.

We all know that no matter how much we publicize and what we do, landscapers come to Marlboro and put leaves or brush in our streets without regard to the regulations or posted schedule.  Additionally, they are dumping yard waste in our streets from other municipalities taking advantage of our robust curbside removal program.  This causes our roads to be unsightly and dangerous for most of the year and is the primary cause of clogging sewer inlets and flooding in our township. To adhere to DEP’s enforcement requirement and to ensure compliance to our posted schedule, all landscapers for hire on any public street or private property within the Township must register each address they service with the Township.  More on this below.

DPW CURBSIDE COLLECTION

BAGGED LEAF COLLECTION – Curbside brush collection is complete and bagged only leaf pickup underway. Please review the DPW SPRNG LAWN DEBRIS MESSAGE #4 for dates and regulations.

SPRING CLEANUP/BULK PICKUP - The much anticipated spring cleanup/bulk pickup annual collection will begin by zone April 19.  Please review the regulations and excluded items (i.e. no TVs) in the recycling calendar, in the BULK PICKUP LETTER. In order to keep children and pedestrians safe, we ask that you not place bulk items curbside earlier than the weekend prior to your first pickup date.

LANDSCAPER REGISTRATION – As noted above, all landscapers who do work for hire in Marlboro Township must register using our on-line portal on the Township website.  Registration must be complete no later than September 1, 2021.  The registration portal can be accessed by visiting our website at www.marlboro-nj.gov and click the ‘Landscaper Registration’ under Quick Links and Actions or the ‘I need to Learn about…’ drop down box.  The landscaper registers their business on the portal one time on the portal and then enters EACH address they service.  Note this is a free registration.  We ask for your help ensuring that your landscaper is aware of this requirement.
