Winter Weather Advisory - Update #2

Dear Resident,

Overnight, the heaviest snow moved southward and the National Weather Service downgraded our area to a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 10:00 pm tonight.  Total snowfall totals of 3 – 5 inches are still expected. Saturday will be very cold with a high near 24 degrees and untreated roads and surfaces including driveways and sidewalks will become icy and dangerous.

  • Remove Vehicles and Obstructions from Roads - As per Township ordinance, when the roads are snow covered all vehicles and obstructions such as basketball hoops must be off the roadway. This includes the duration of the storm and the cleanup that follows.
  • All Recreation programs Cancelled Friday - The Marlboro K-8 schools are closed Friday. Accordingly, all Marlboro Recreation programs are cancelled. The FRHSD schools, Monmouth County Vocational District and adult evening programs are also cancelled.
  • NJDOT has issued a commercial travel ban. Read Abandoned vehicles on state roads may be towed. Before you travel, check road conditions at 511nj.org.
  • Snow Removal - Please review the ‘Surviving the Snow’ on pages 22 and 23 of the Recycling Calendar and linked HERE for tips, important numbers and websites.
    • NOTE: State law requires all ice and snow must be removed from your vehicle before driving, including the hood, windows and roof.
    • Do not shovel, snow blow or clear vehicles onto the roadway. It creates dangerous and icy conditions.
  • Pet Safety – Cold weather can be dangerous for our fur family. Review how to keep them safe HERE.

Although we have been downgraded to a Winter Weather Advisory, it is important to note that we are right on the edge of the Storm Warning area and forecasts can change.  Please keep an eye on local weather apps, stay safe and we will update you as needed.
