Winter Weather Advisory – Update #6

Good afternoon,

It appears that the snowfall has largely tapered off and clean-up operations are well under way. As we dig out, I want to highlight a few key items in the ‘Surviving the Snow’ section of the Recycling Calendar (pages 22 and 23) and linked HERE:

  • Please continue to ensure that vehicles and obstructions are removed from the roadways.
  • Snow should not be shoveled, blown or plowed into the roadways.
  • It is worth waiting until snow plows have made one pass before clearing the bottom of your driveway. When you do, where possible, pile the snow to the right of the driveway (looking out to the street from your house).
  • The United States Postal Service asks customers to clear enough snow from their mailboxes to allow mail trucks to approach the box, deliver the mail and drive away.
  • Fire hydrants located in front of your property should be cleared of snow to prevent the lines from freezing and allow access in case of fire.

Even though the brunt of the storm has passed through our area, please continue to stay off of the roads so that public works operators can move efficiently through our neighborhoods.

I appreciate your cooperation and patience as the important work of clearing our roadways continues.

Stay safe,

Mayor Jon Hornik
