JUNE 6, 2023 - PRIMARY ELECTION

Dear Resident,

Tuesday, June 6, 2023 is New Jersey’s Primary Election Day. Polling places are open from 6 a.m. – 8 p.m.

NOTE: New Jersey state law requires that a registered voter must be a member of the Democratic or Republican Party to vote in the Primary Election. If you are an unaffiliated voter (a registered voter who has not declared a political party) you may vote in the Primary Election by declaring a party in person at your polling location (either during early voting or on Election Day).

  1. Registration Deadline - The deadline to register to vote in the primary election is May 16, 2023. Check your registration status HERE.
  1. Vote-By-Mail (VBM) ballots – VBM ballots were mailed as per a registered voter’s request. If, the voter is either a registered Democrat or Republican then there are three ways to return your VBM ballot. (see below for requesting a VBM Ballot application):
  • Mailed via U.S. Post Office (must be postmarked by June 6, 2023).
  • Hand delivered to any Monmouth County secure Ballot Drop Box by 8 p.m. on June 6, 2023. Marlboro has a ballot drop box in the parking lot of the Municipal Building. LOCATIONS HERE.
  • Hand delivered to the Monmouth County Board of Elections Office, 300 Halls Mills Road, Freehold, no later than 8 p.m. on June 6, 2023.
  1. Deadlines to request a VBM ballot - (application: )
  • Bring the application to the Monmouth County Clerk of Elections Office no later than May 30.
  • Registered voters may apply in-person for a Mail-In Ballot at the Monmouth County Clerk of Elections Office, 300 Halls Mills Road, Freehold until June 5 at 3 p.m.
  1. Important VBM information
  • VBM ballots CANNOT be returned to a polling place either during early voting or on Election Day.
  • If you returned a VBM ballot, you CANNOT vote in person.
  • Request a replacement VBM ballot (lost, damaged, never received)
  • If you received or requested a VBM Ballot (and had not submitted it); you may vote with a Provisional Ballot during early voting or on Election Day.

Early Voting (June 2-4) – In person early voting locations will be open Friday, June 2 and Saturday, June 3 from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sunday, June 4 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.  There are ten early voting locations in Monmouth County and voters may vote at any one of these locations during three-day early voting https://www.monmouthcountyvotes.com/voter-information/polling-places/

Election Day – Polls are open from 6 a.m.  – 8 p.m. Your polling location is printed on the sample ballot that will be mailed to your home (on or about Wednesday, May 31, 2023) or you may find your polling location HERE.
