Weekend Update – Columbus Day

Dear Resident,

Hurricanes Helena and Milton left devastation in their wake, and our thoughts are with the survivors as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding their lives and communities. These catastrophic storms are a stark reminder of the power of nature and the importance of preparedness. I urge all residents to download the FEMA app and visit our website ‘Office of Emergency Management’ and click the Preparedness section for important links and websites.

Columbus Day – Municipal Offices and the Recycling Center are closed on Monday, October 14 in observance of Columbus Day.  Many services are available on line. Please visit the website for more.  The Police are open 24/7 and can be reached at 732-536-0100. Emergencies dial 911. 

EVENTS/PROGRAMS

Marlboro Farmers Market – Sundays from 9-1 through October with only a few more weeks left of the regular season.  Caldino’s and Butter Me Up join to offer pasta tasting from 10am to noon and Castle of Dreams is back with an adoption event. Notice of weekly vendors and market updates are shared to social media @MarlboroFarmersMarket and our website HERE . Save the date for our Fall Holiday Market Sunday, November 24.

Halloween Spooktacular – Friday, October 18 from 5:30 – 7:30 join us for a free, family event.  Cupcake decorating at 5:30 (while supplies last) and our Halloween parade and costume contest steps off at 7pm. Enjoy a DJ and Halloween carnival games all night long.  Candy donations are appreciated. FLYER  

Teen Advisory Committee (TAC) - Do you have a Marlboro Teen looking for ways to give back and earn community service hours? Join TAC! Rabies Clinic – Free drive-through rabies clinic will be held on Saturday, October 26 from 10am to noon at the Marlboro Middle School on Route 520.  No appointment is needed.  If your pet is no longer with you, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. Paper Shredding – Monmouth County holds paper shredding throughout the county during the year. October 19 will be in Matawan and all locations are open to all Monmouth County residents.  FLYER

PUBLIC NOTICES

Fall Brush Collection – Brush collection has begun by zone.  Please be a good neighbor and help keep our streets safe and clean. Do not place brush curbside more than a week prior to your first collection day and stay clear of storm drains to prevent flooding.  For dates and details, the brush collection letter can be found on our website HERE.  

Leaf Collection to Be Scheduled – Curbside, piled leaf collections will be scheduled when we see what the weather will bring.  Do not places leaves curbside at this time. Loose leaves on the road block storm drains, exacerbate flooding and are a danger to vehicles and pedestrians, and blow back onto yours and your neighbors’ lawns.  The schedule will be sent via email and posted on the website when it is determined.  Leaves are accepted at the recycling center throughout the year with no fee or permit. 

Union Hill Daily Lot – We are pleased to announce ‘Park Smarter’ payment for the daily parking lot on Union Hill Road (498 Union Hill Road).  Pay via the downloaded, free App or Text-to-Pay right from your cell.  Both options allow user to extend parking stay remotely, provide receipts and allow you to pay from your vehicle.  Frequent users may prefer the app as it allows user to save vehicle and payment information.  The existing kiosk will remain in place for those that prefer. General Election Update – Voter Registration deadline, deadline to elect to receive a Vote by Mail Ballot, Early Voting on a Machine at any of the 10 Monmouth County locations (detailed in letter) and more in the letter sent earlier this week.  HERE

Autumn Paint Night – October 24 from 7-9pm, join the Marlboro Education’s event. Fun event for teens and up.  FLYER

Bus Drivers –Marlboro school district is seeking bus drivers.  Training provided.  Call 732-972-2118 for more.

TOWN MEETINGS

All Town meetings are posted on the Township website ‘Upcoming Events’ Calendar linked HERE.  Agendas, where applicable, are posted to the website not less than 48 hours in advance of the meeting and are linked to the calendar event.  The following Council/Planning/Zoning meetings are upcoming. Other meetings can be found on the calendar.  From time to time, meetings are cancelled and notice is posted to the calendar event.
