Weekend Update

Dear Resident,

The location for Saturday’s rabies clinic has been changed due to inclement weather.  I also remind residents who are planning a spring break getaway to add safety to your packing list and register for a home security check. See the ‘Public Safety’ section below. 

NOTICES

Rabies Clinic Saturday (Free) – Due to the forecast of inclement weather, the rabies clinic location has been changed to the Marlboro Middle School on Route 520 on Saturday, March 25 from 10am to noon. Complete the License application HERE and bring to clinic.  Pay on line, in person or mail.   The forms for mail in registration are available HERE and to complete the forms online, please click HERE. 

Fire Hydrant Flushing:

Gordons Corner Water flushing began on March 6. For more, please view the notice on their website at www.gordonscornerwater.com or call their office during business hours.

Marlboro Township Water Utility will begin on or about April 3.  See HERE for more. 

Leaf Collection (Bagged Only) –Bagged leaf collection will begin by zone at the end of March. Zones 1, 8, 2, & 4 will be the week of March 27 and Zones 3, 5, 6, & 7 the week of April 3.   Please review the letter from DPW HERE.  Free leaf bags are available. Simply reserve on line HERE. Lifeguard Certification Classes - Summer Job needed? Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (or Recertification) available at the Marlboro Swim Club. You do not have to be a swim club member to take the class.  Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Prerequisites: Must be age 15 by end of class.  FLYER

Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT) – The Marlboro Township Police Department is currently seeking volunteers to serve on the DVRT.  In affiliation with 180 Turning Lives Around (180), and with the assistance of the response team volunteers, the Marlboro Police Department continues to make this free, 24/7 confidential service available to victims of domestic violence in the aftermath of a highly emotional and traumatic experience. Mandatory, free training is provided. FLYER

First Aid Squads Need You! Give back to your community and learn invaluable life skills.   Marlboro and Morganville First Aid Squads offer free EMT certification and driver training to recruits, and active membership also qualifies volunteers for discounts on various Township fees and memberships and an annual contribution towards an individual retirement-type program.  Want to learn more? Spring Vacations Security Check – Set your alarms, lock yours doors, make sure cars are locked and fobs safely away.  Add extra security by requesting a police security check.  WAIVER HERE

By working together, we are making a difference and reducing successful vehicle thefts. Please remember to lock your car doors, take the key fobs inside, remove garage door openers, lock your house doors and set alarms.  If you have not yet done so request an ‘I Took the Pledge’ lawn sign and download the ‘Neighbors’ app.  Most importantly, if you see anything out of place or suspicious call the police at 732-536-0100.  For crimes in progress dial 911.  To read more about how we, as a community, are working together to keep our homes and families safe, click HERE.

Alarm Registration open for 2023 - The form for alarm registration can be found HERE.

Commuter Parking Renewal – Parking spot renewal has begun and an email with renewal instructions has been sent to those with current parking spaces and is linked HERE.  Renewals must be completed by March 31, 2023.

COVID-19 Ratepayer Relief Measures – Measures are in place to provide relief to ratepayers experiencing economic hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The NJ Department of Community Affairs has developed a low income household water assistance program.  Please review the letter from the Marlboro Water Utility HERE.

Marlboro resident, David Marin, turns 100 years old on Saturday.  A true survivor, he was imprisoned in Auschwitz at the young age of 16.  Shortly after his release, he met his wife, Etta, and they immigrated to the US in 1949. They were married for 67 years.  Etta and David retired to Marlboro in in 1988, one of Greenbriar’s first residents, where David still lives today.  I have proclaimed March 25 ‘David Marin Day’ in the boundaries of Marlboro Township.   You can read the proclamation and learn more about David’s remarkable life HERE.  Please join me in wishing David a very happy 100th birthday.
