Wintry Precipitation and Extreme Cold Impacts - Update #1
Dear Resident,
The National Weather Service has forecast wintry precipitation in the form of snow, rain and ice beginning Saturday (1/18). Sunday, widespread snow is expected that may result in difficult travel conditions. Sunday night through Wednesday night dangerously cold conditions with wind chills below zero are expected. At this time, the snowfall totals are uncertain but are forecast to be between 3 and 6 inches.
We are preparing for plowable snow and the Marlboro Office of Emergency Management advises residents to take this time to plan and prepare.
- Remove Vehicles and Obstructions from Roads before you head to bed Saturday night- As per Township ordinance, when the roads are snow covered all vehicles and obstructions such as basketball hoops must be off the roadway. This includes the duration of the storm and the cleanup that follows.
- Recreation afternoon/evening programs cancelled Sunday
- Snow Preparations - Please review the ‘Surviving the Snow’ on pages 22 and 23 of the Recycling Calendar and linked HERE for tips, important numbers and websites.
- JCP&L – Report outages to 888-LIGHTSS. Never go near downed wires. Assume they are live and dangerous. Report to the Marlboro Police.
- Review the Marlboro Office of Emergency Management website HERE with links to preparedness websites
Please check on vulnerable neighbors. We will send updates as needed via email, website and social media.
Stay safe,
Mayor Jon Hornik
